JMW Wins International Consulting Award

The 2016 AMCF Spotlight Award recognizes JMW's work with an industry-leading Australian water corporation

STAMFORD, Conn., June 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- JMW Consultants Inc. has been named a recipient of the prestigious AMCF Spotlight Award. The accolade in the Human Capital category marks the third time in four years that JMW has been honored by the Association of Management Consulting Firms (AMCF) for its work alongside clients delivering groundbreaking successes. This year's award recognizing JMW's efforts with Yarra Valley Water of Melbourne, Australia will be celebrated today at the AMCF awards gala in New York City.

"It's an honor to be recognized for the value we deliver for our clients," said JMW CEO Jerry Straus. "But more importantly, it is a fitting tribute to Yarra Valley Water's success story and the extraordinary difference they are making to their community."

Yarra Valley Water has received worldwide recognition in recent years for making unprecedented advances as it provides water services to 2 million people and over 50,000 businesses in the state of Victoria. Innovations include implementing an award-winning hardship program for customers in need, introducing new water recycling methods to drought-proof 100,000 properties, and launching Australia's first stand-alone, profitable Waste-to-Energy facility. The public water corporation has also been named to Australian Business Review Weekly's "Most Innovative Companies" list.

In addition, Yarra Valley Water rose to the top 2% of organizations with a proactive mindset for change and long-term effectiveness, and enhanced staff engagement to a level that scores in the Australia/New Zealand Top 20. Other results include a 30% drop in water quality complaints, a 36% increase in hardship customers assisted, a 20% decrease in operating expenditures, and a serious injury frequency rate reduced by more than 80%.

"Beyond the honor this is for us, the award represents the best of what can happen in a consultant-client relationship, where a true partnership develops and people ultimately take their business to places they truly never knew they could go," said Deborah Kiers, JMW Managing Director and Asia Pacific Associate Partner. Kiers led the engagement that won JMW a 2014 AMCF Spotlight Award for another Australian water sector client, Goulburn-Murray Water, as it emerged from its worst water crisis in history.

Spotlight Awards are determined by an independent panel of judges from academia, media, and public and private sector organizations. Founded in 1929, AMCF is the premier international association of firms engaged in management consulting.
