MEEA Announces 2016 Inspiring Efficiency Impact Award Winners

Nexant Clients ComEd and MidAmerican Energy Company Both Recognized for Major Impacts in the Midwest

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - March 10, 2016) -  Nexant, a leading provider of technology enabled services, energy software and consulting for utilities, is pleased to announce that two programs Nexant administers with our utility clients were recognized by the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) at the Inspiring Efficiency Awards Dinner and Gala on February 25, 2016. The two winners included the ComEd Small Business Energy Savings and the MidAmerican Energy Industrial Partners programs, who were each recipients of the prestigious 2016 Impact Award which honors programs making significant contributions to market transformation in the Midwest.

MEEA's Inspiring Energy Efficiency Awards are presented annually at the Midwest Energy Solutions Conference (www.meeaconference.org), and recognize Midwest leaders who deliver groundbreaking advancements in energy efficiency in five categories: Leadership, Education, Impact, Marketing and Innovation.

"We are thrilled to see ComEd and MidAmerican Energy Company be recognized for their impacts in energy efficiency in the Midwest," said Sam Mueller, Vice President of utility services at Nexant. "Both organizations reimagined traditional program designs to deliver energy-saving solutions that fit the unique needs of their customers. Nexant is honored to be a partner with these two well-respected companies and help them achieve new levels of customer satisfaction and energy savings."

ComEd -- Small Business Energy Savings Impact Highlights
The ComEd Small Business Energy Savings (SBES) Program was developed to overcome the traditional constraints of small business owners who struggle with high energy costs and do not have the time or financial resources to investigate and implement energy saving options.

The ComEd SBES Program has dramatically increased the number of small business customers saving energy, lowering operating costs, increasing profitability, implementing sustainable practices, and improving businesses since the program launch in July 2011. Since its inception, the program has achieved an unprecedented 400 GWhin savings and helped over 20,500 customers in the ComEd territory remain competitive and stay in business in an ever-changing economic climate.

These achievements were a result of an innovative approach to engage and develop a local, robust and reliable network of highly-qualified trade allies (contractors) to best represent the program. ComEd SBES empowered the trade ally network with the appropriate training, support and marketing collateral needed to deliver energy savings and build credibility in the program. Trade allies guided customers by providing free energy assessments, customized reports and education on ways to save energy in an easy and affordable way.

MidAmerican Energy Company -- Industrial Partners Impact Highlights
MidAmerican Energy developed the Industrial Partners program to help industrial customers incorporate energy efficiency into their businesses by providing an advanced level of support that customizes program services to meet each customer's unique needs.

The Industrial Partners program focuses on customer satisfaction and engagement, rather than specific efficiency goals for each customer. Energy managers work primarily to develop long-term relationships with customers, which lays the foundation for increased participation, project implementation and customer satisfaction.

As a result, Industrial Partners has pioneered a program model for restoring industrial customer faith in Demand Side Management programs and reinvigorating energy efficiency activity. Since the energy manager service was launched, the number of active industrial participants has nearly doubled. The Industrial Partners program achieved 200% of goal in 2014 and 220% of goal in 2015 (54 GWh and 60 GWh, respectively).

The Industrial Partners program combines traditional incentives with system studies and Strategic Energy Management (SEM) planning by offering all these services through one individual: the energy manager. Each industrial customer in the program is given an energy manager, whose job is to fully understand the customer's needs and help them find the right efficiency solutions to meet those needs.
