MURPHY OIL CORPORATION ANNOUNCES OFFERING OF $500 MILLION OF SENIOR NOTES DUE 2024


EL DORADO, Arkansas, August 10, 2016 - Murphy Oil Corporation (NYSE:MUR) announced, subject to market conditions, it intends to offer $500 million of Senior Notes that will mature in 2024 ("2024 notes") pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement previously filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). 

The company expects to use the net proceeds from the offering of the 2024 notes for general corporate purposes, which may include the repayment, repurchase or redemption of the company's 2.5 percent notes due 2017.

J.P. Morgan Securities LLC is acting as joint book-running manager for the offering. The offering is being made under an automatic shelf registration statement on Form S-3 (Registration No. 333-207463) filed by Murphy with the SEC and only by means of a prospectus supplement and accompanying prospectus.
