EnerCom’s Houston-based director, Mitch Duffy, visited the NAPE Summit 2018 last week and reported on the large industry meeting for Oil & Gas 360. The conference was at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center.

NAPE is a deal-making meeting where buyers and sellers of oil and gas properties find each other and do business. NAPE was established in 1993 by the American Association of Professional Landmen and also includes IPAA, SEG and AAPG as partners.

NAPE Packed, Crowd 'Optimistic'

More than 12,000 oil and gas professionals helped celebrate what was the 25th anniversary of the NAPE Summit this week in Houston.

Duffy offered his observations as to the overall industry environment and demeanor divined from his visit to NAPE at this early point in 2018:

“It was clear early on that the NAPE Summit 2018 was going to be an even more well attended event than those of recent years. The aisles and booths filled quickly with conversations between attendees and exhibitors. Smiles and handshakes ruled the day and if only one word was required to describe the atmosphere in the hall it was optimistic.

“More than 12,000 oil and gas professionals helped celebrate what was the 25th anniversary of the NAPE Summit. More than 700 exhibitors included companies as large as BP, Shell, Conoco Philips, Anadarko along with some other familiar faces including PLS, Drilling Info, EnergyNet and Enertia Software. The 2018 NAPE Summit was a well-rounded business environment for the many segments of the oil and gas business.

“Over the course of the week the NAPE Summit presented 5 education events, a job fair on Wednesday which featured top industry firms, an ice breaker cocktail party on Wednesday evening, and a charities industry luncheon on Thursday which featured former NBC news anchor Tom Brokaw as keynote.  There were a host of other presentations by some of the top leaders in the oil and gas industry on subjects such as “The changing role of private equity in the energy industry,” “US LNG Exports,” “International Deepwater vs: Onshore” and numerous others,” Duffy said.
