Drilling activity was flat this week as rigs shuffled around the country, according to the latest edition of Baker Hughes’ rig count.

The total number of rigs operating in the country was unchanged this week, meaning there are 1,075 rigs active in the U.S. Two land-based rigs came online in the week, while inland waters and offshore saw rig counts decline by one each. Land drilling accounts for 1,052 rigs, compared to only two inland waters and 21 offshore rigs.

Operations shifted in favor of gas drilling this week, with four oil-targeting rigs shutting down while four gas-targeting rigs came online. With 873 active rigs, oil now accounts for 81.2% of all activity, while there are 202 gas rigs, 18.8% of the total.
