Shifts run contrary to established trends
Drilling activity bucked the historical trend this week, with unusual activity shifts according to Baker Hughes’ Weekly Rig Count.

A net two wells shut down this week, leaving 1,052 rigs still operating. The current activity level appears to be at a rough equilibrium, and it has held steady around 1,050 rigs since early May. the rig count has shifted within a narrow band since then and has shown the most consistency since before the downturn.
