Vessel suspected of carrying Iranian oil to Syria in violation of EU sanctions
An Iranian supertanker carrying oil allegedly bound for Syria was detained in Gibraltar by British Royal Marines this Thursday for violating sanctions put in place by the European Union, further straining the already tense relationship between and Tehran and the West.

The Grace 1, a Panamanian-flagged vessel owned by a company in Singapore, was detained after Marines boarded the boat and uncovered evidence to indicate that it was attempting to transport a shipment of crude oil to the Banya Refinery in Syria.
