Canadian numbers down by three

This week’s Baker Hughes rig count shows that U.S. numbers declined by five, resulting in the total count falling to 958. Compared to this time last year, numbers are down 96.

Canada is also down compared to last week with a total count of 117, representing an decrease of three rigs. Compared to this time last year, its total is down by 80.

Breakdown by region

Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, three experienced an increase in rigs this week:

  • Cana Woodford is at 48, up one from last week.
  • DJ-Niobrara is at 27, up one from last week.
  • Haynesville is at 52, up one from last week.

On the other hand, two regions experienced a decrease:

  • Eagle Ford is at 66, down five from last week.
  • Permian is at 437, down six from last week.

All other regions saw no net change in active rig count.
