Canadian numbers also down by four

This week’s Baker Hughes rig count shows that U.S. numbers declined by four, resulting in the total count falling to 963. Compared to this time last year, numbers are down 89.

Canada is also down compared to last week with a total count of 120, representing an decrease of four rigs. Compared to this time last year, its total is down by 62.

Breakdown by region

Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, two experienced an increase in rigs this week:

  • Marcellus is at 59, up one from last week.
  • Permian is at 443, up two from last week.

On the other hand, two regions experienced a decrease:

  • Cana Woodford is at 47, down two from last week.
  • Haynesville is at 51, down two from last week.

All other regions saw no net change in active rig count.
