This week’s Baker Hughes rig count shows that U.S. numbers declined by 18, resulting in the total count falling to 868 and marks the fifth straight decline.

Canada decreased compared to last week with a total count of 119, representing a decrease of 15 rigs.

Breakdown by region

Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, only the DJ-Niobrara saw an increase of 1 rig this week, from 22 to 23

Meanwhile, the 6 regions that experienced a decrease were:

  • Ardmore Woodford is at 2, down 1 from last week.
  • Arkoma Woodford is at 3, down 1 from last week.
  • Cana Woodford is at 36, down 3 from last week.
  • Eagle Ford is at 63, down 3 from last week.
  • Permian is at 417, down 2 from last week.
  • Williston is at 53, down 2 from last week.

All other regions saw no net change in the active rig count.
