This week’s Baker Hughes rig count shows that U.S. numbers declined by 6, resulting in the total count falling to 898 and marks the third straight decline.
Canada decreased compared to last week with a total count of 147, representing a decrease of 3 rigs. Compared to this time last year, its total is down by 76.
On Thursday, the Energy Information Administration said U.S. crude supplies declined by 4.8 million barrels for the week ended Aug. 30.
Breakdown by region
Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, one experienced an increase in rigs this week:
- Williston is at 54, up 3 from last week
On the other hand, three regions experienced a decrease:
- Cana Woodford is at 42, down 3 from last week.
- Permian is at 427, down 2 from last week.
- Mississippian is at 2, down 1 from last week.
All other regions saw no net change in the active rig count.
