Louisiana rig count falls by four
Drilling activity declined in the U.S. this week, extending the drop seen last week, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count.

A net three rigs shut down this week, meaning there are 1,076 drilling rigs currently active in the country. One land-based rig came offline, while two offshore rigs shut down. This leaves 1,051 land, two inland waters and 23 offshore rigs active. The 25 rigs reported active last week is the highest offshore activity level seen since January 2017.

Operations shifted in favor of oil drilling, as two oil rigs came online while five gas-targeting rigs shut down. Oil drilling currently accounts for 82.4% of all activity, the highest share since August 2016.
