Canadian numbers up five

This week’s Baker Hughes rig count shows that U.S. numbers stayed static, resulting in the total remaining at 967. Compared to this time last year, however, numbers are down 80.

Canada, on the other hand, is up compared to last week with a total count of 124, representing an increase of five rigs. Compared to this time last year, its total is down by 48.

Breakdown by region

Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, two experienced an increase in rigs this week:

  • Cana Woodford is at 49, up four from last week.
  • Permian is at 441, up two from last week.

On the other hand, five regions experienced a decrease:

  • DJ-Niobrara is at 26, down two from last week.
  • Eagle Ford is at 71, down two from last week.
  • Granite Wash is at four, down two from last week.
  • Mississippian is at two, down one from last week.
  • Williston is at 55, down one from last week.

All other regions saw no net change in active rig count.
