Viterra Improves Operational Performance with Schneider Electric

- System Platform, powered by Wonderware, enhances production visibility, quality assurance and system control across 85 global sites - Standardization of systems and processes enables increased agility to meet growing consumer demand

LAKE FOREST, Calif., May 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/-- Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced the success achieved at customer Viterra Inc., a leading marketer and handler of grains, oilseeds and pulses. Viterra has implemented Schneider Electric's System Platform, powered by Wonderware, to improve global operational efficiency and standardize processes across multiple systems collected through mergers and acquisitions. Viterra's implementation has so far led to a 10% increase in shipping efficiency and a 40% decrease in rail receiving time.

Viterra relies on Schneider Electric hardware and software as part of its overall plan to operate at a rate that can satisfy the world’s ever-increasing demand for food.

Viterra is a geographically diverse supplier that markets and transports millions of tons of grains annually to over 50 countries. System compatibility issues presented challenges to achieving operational consistency across multiple sites. By standardizing systems and leveraging best practices across locations with Schneider Electric, Viterra can now operate with greater capacity resulting in improved throughput and profitability. Information is now readily available and shared across the enterprise through data historian integration. Better access to data and advanced visualization tools has enabled Viterra to improve productivity and operational excellence.

"Schneider Electric's solutions provide insight on how our equipment is operating to expose inefficiencies and uncover areas where we can maximize capacity," said Paul Bourlon, Manager, Automation Services, Viterra. "By standardizing operations we place the 'best operator' inside the system. This has resulted in the elimination of training preparation time. Regardless of employee experience, the facility operates at optimal performance."

"System Platform's standardized, template-based approach has taken Viterra's system development time from months to weeks," said Norm Thorlakson, Vice President, HMI & Supervisory Software, Industry Business, Schneider Electric. "It is rewarding to work with customers such as Viterra to improve their performance, as this ultimately helps our global community by making more food available to feed the world."

A success story has been prepared, offeriang further detail and examples of what Viterra has accomplished with their Schneider Electric solutions. Read the full story here: https://goo.gl/FMWU2c.
