The EIA released its weekly Natural Gas Storage Report today, outlining how national natural gas stocks have changed in the last week.

In total, the EIA reports natural gas stocks increased by 65 Bcf last week, rising from 3, 710 Bcf to 3,775 Bcf. This is 4.6% below the 3,955 Bcf that was in storage at this point last year, and is 1.1% below the five year average of 3,816. This week’s storage build was in line with expectations, as analysts predicted an increase of 63 Bcf.

Weekly Gas Storage: Build as Expected

The largest stock builds were found in the South Central and Midwest regions, which added a combined 50 Bcf of storage. No region saw stocks decrease this week.

Stocks in the East, Midwest and Mountain regions are now each above the five-year average. Gas in storage in the Pacific region is 11.9% lower than the five-year average for the area.
