The EIA released its weekly Natural Gas Storage Report today, outlining how national natural gas stocks have changed in the last week.

In total, the EIA reports natural gas stocks rose by 58 Bcf last week, increasing to 3,095 Bcf from 3,037 Bcf. This is 16.4% below the 3,701 Bcf that was in storage at this point last year, and is 16.8% below the five-year average of 3,719 Bcf. This week’s storage build was in line with expectations, as analysts predicted a build of 52 Bcf.


Nearly every region saw a build in inventories this week, with only the Pacific region dropping by 2 Bcf. The largest increases came in the Midwest and South Central regions, which added 26 Bcf and 19 Bcf, respectively.
