The EIA released its weekly Natural Gas Storage Report today, outlining how national natural gas stocks have changed in the last week.

In total, the EIA reports natural gas stocks increased by 15 Bcf last week, rising from 3, 775 Bcf to 3,790 Bcf. This is 5.5% below the 4,009 Bcf that was in storage at this point last year, and is 1.8% below the five year average of 3,861. This week’s storage build was in line with expectations, as analysts predicted an increase of 13 Bcf.

Weekly Gas Storage: Cold Weather Brings Small Build

The largest stock builds was found in the South Central region, which added 12 Bcf of storage. Stocks decreased in the East and Mountain regions, dropping by a combined 3 Bcf.

Stocks in the Midwest and Mountain regions are now each above the five-year average. Gas in storage in the Pacific region is 12.7% lower than the five-year average for the area.
