The EIA released its weekly Natural Gas Storage Report today, outlining how national natural gas stocks have changed in the last week.

In total, the EIA reports natural gas stocks increased by 64 Bcf last week, rising from 3,646 Bcf to 3,710 Bcf. This is 4.8% below the 3,899 Bcf that was in storage at this point last year, and is 1.2% below the five year average of 3,756. This week’s storage build was exactly what was expected, as analysts predicted an increase of 64 Bcf.

The largest stock builds were found in the South Central and Midwest regions, which added a combined 52 Bcf of storage. The only drawdown was seen in the Pacifc, where 1 Bcf left storage.

Salt stocks in the South Central region have finally fallen below the five-year average, and are now 2.5% below the average storage for this week. Gas in storage in the Pacific region is 11.5% lower than the five-year average for the area.
