The EIA released its weekly Petroleum Status Report today, outlining how national oil and refined product stocks have changed in the last week.

Crude oil stocks rose by 6,490 MBBL last week to 416,441 MBBL from 409,951 MBBL. This is 9% below the 456,485 MBBL that was in storage at this point last year, and is 1% above the five-year average. This week’s build was a surprise, as the average analyst prediction called for a build of 909 MBBL.

Gasoline inventories decreased by 2.0 MMBBL this week to 234.2 MMBBL. Fuel oil inventories fell by 0.8 MMBBL to 132.6 MMBBL. Overall, petroleum stocks excluding the SPR increased by 3.0 MMBBL to 1,263.0 MMBBL.
