The EIA released its weekly Petroleum Status Report today, outlining how national oil and refined product stocks have changed in the last week.

Crude oil stocks rose by 2,408 MBBL last week to 425,906 MBBL, from 423,498 MBBL. This is 19% below the 528,393 MBBL that was in storage at this point last year, and is 1% above the five-year average. This week’s build was in line with expectations, as the average analyst prediction called for a build of 2,190 MBBL.

Weekly Oil Storage: Spring Build Continues

Gasoline inventories fell by 0.8 MMBBL this week, dropping to 251.0 MMBBL. Fuel oil inventories decreased to 137.4 MMBBL, from 138.0 MMBBL last week. Other refined product stocks fell to 388.2 MMBBL.

The four-week average total crude oil inputs to refineries dropped to 15,953 MBOPD, down from 16,169 MBOPD. This means refineries are running at 88.4% of capacity. American refineries produced an average of 9,753 MBBLPD of gasoline and 4,591 MBBLPD of distillate fuel oil over the past four weeks.
