Why These 3 Oil Producers' Stocks Crashed More Than 65% in March

Shares of oil and gas producers Vermilion Energy (NYSE: VET)Kosmos Energy (NYSE: KOS), and Callon Petroleum (NYSE: CPE) lost well over half their value in March, according to data provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence. Vermilion's shares were down by 69.1%, Kosmos' shares by 70.6%, and Callon's by an eye-popping 75.9%. 

Those performances were worse than the overall drilling industry, as measured by the SPDR S&P Oil & Gas Exploration and Production ETF, which fell 46.5% for the month, and much worse than the overall S&P 500, which was only down 12.5%.
