HARTFORD, Conn., June 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Windsor Marketing Group (WMG), an innovative in-store marketing company based in Suffield, Conn., has been recognized by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) as a 2016 Green Circle Award recipient for Sustainability.
The award was presented on June 8th at the Connecticut Convention Center as part of the Connecticut Business Summit.
The Green Circle Sustainability Award recognizes businesses who take a coordinated and holistic approach to reducing their environmental impact and resource demands of their operations and activities here in Connecticut.
Windsor Marketing Group was recognized for its stewardship in maintaining the most sustainable operations possible through cutting edge technology and environmentally focused organization of company assets.
In 2016, Windsor Marketing Group finished construction of its state of the art headquarters in Suffield. Now, 100 percent of WMG's operations benefit from being under one energy efficient roof, maximizing the reduction in company's overall impact on the environment.
In addition to operating an energy efficient facility, WMG's sustainability practices are part of day to day operations. This includes a process called, "ganging" printing jobs together so that waste at all levels is reduced, utilize a centrifuge to remove solvents from cleaning rags so that they can be reused, and neutralizing the PH content of formally volatile liquids so that can be recycled.
In addition, WMG is in the process of developing a fuel cell that can recapture and reuse the heat it generates to power itself. This new technology will be operational in the near future. In the meantime the new facility is equipped with special generators that allow WMG to participate in a state program where they can be called upon by officials to reduce their electricity consumption on peak electricity usage days.
Windsor Marketing Group has a longstanding tradition of environmental stewardship that includes recycling 100 percent of waste paper, the utilization of soy-based inks and UV ink-printing technology, and the installation of a T5 lighting system with occupancy sensors throughout the building and energy efficient LED lighting in the parking lot.
WMG was one of a handful of Green Circle Award winners selected from 59 finalists.
