ESN Chairman Grigory Berezkin Named Independent Director of the Year

MOSCOW, Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ESN Group, one of Russia's largest holding companies, is pleased to announce that Grigory Berezkin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ESN, has been named Russia's best Independent Director at the annual Director of the Year awards, one of the country's most prestigious corporate nominations.

Gregory Berezkin has served as an Independent Director on the board of Russian Railways for the past five years. He has more than 20 years experience in senior management positions in the energy sector, and has held Directorships at companies including RAO UES, Freight One, SG-Trans and Komitek.

Gregory Berezkin founded ESN Group in 1991. As Chairman of the Board of Directors, he has led and overseen turnarounds, acquisitions and key investments to grow ESN into a holding company operating in the energy, engineering, media and venture investment fields. ESN has entered a number of successful JVs with international majors from energy and media sector including Enel and Metro International.

The Director of the Year awards are run by the Association of Independent Directors, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and PwC. Nominations are made by panel of experts comprising some of the best-known names in Russian business, such as Alexey Mordashov (Severstal), Dmitry Pumpyansky (TMK), Bella Zlatkis (Sberbank) and David Yakobashvili (Wimm-Bill-Dann). The panel conducts a rigorous selection process culminating in personal interviews with each of the shortlisted candidates.
