Oil rig counts down for 29th consecutive week
The total number of rigs drilling for oil and gas in the United States rose for the first time in 28 weeks, according to the Baker Hughes (ticker: BHI) rig count for the week ended June 26, 2015. The U.S. total rig count rose to 859, up 2 rigs from last week.
The number of rigs drilling for oil continued falling for a 29th straight week, hitting 628, down three from last week. The number of rigs drilling for gas rose to 228, up five from last week.
Louisiana saw the largest increase in the number of rigs drilling in the last week, adding six rigs to its counts. New Mexico and West Virginia each added on rig. North Dakota and Ohio each lost three rigs while Texas lost two.
