Fort McMurray’s entire 88,000-person population was evacuated due to the fire. Alberta officials said Thursday that they can’t comment for two more weeks on when residents might be able to return, reports The Globe and Mail.

The fire has destroyed an estimated 2,432 homes and other structures, and is expected to be the most costly natural disaster in Alberta’s history.
