Brian Schmidt, president and CEO of Tamarack Valley Energy, (ticker: TVE) presented today at EnerCom’s The Oil & Gas Conference® 22.
Tamarack Valley Energy is a producer with acreage in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The company’s assets are primarily located in the Cardium formation, the Viking oil play, and the Penny Barons Sand, of which the Viking oil play is the newest.
During the company’s breakout session, management was asked the following questions:
- We talk a lot about USD WTI hedging but what about the USD-CAD hedging? How do you think about this in the future?
- Was the Hamilton Lake pressure you discovered or you had an idea about it when you did the acquisition?
- Continuing from the previous question, out of your 351 wells, how many of these have this great combination?
- Do your future plans include water flooding?
- What do you think about capital allocation when comparing to share buy-back vs. paying down debt vs. accelerating drilling during high oil prices?
- Isn’t choosing between buy back vs. accelerating drilling more of a long term vs. short term thinking?
- What does your hedging program mostly consist of, mostly collars or swaps?
- It seems that you are focused on risk management, but what do you think about long term debt considering you are now a mature company with more than 20,000 BOEPD?
