U.S. Rig Count down 8, now at 860 rigs

This week’s Baker Hughes rig count shows that U.S. numbers declined by 8, resulting in the total count falling to 860 and marks the sixth straight decline.

Canada increased over last week by 8 rigs, resulting in a total count of 127.

Breakdown by region

Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, only Cana Woodford saw an increase of 2 rigs this week, from 36 to 38

Meanwhile, the 4 regions that experienced a decrease were:

  • DJ-Niobrara is at 22, down 1 from last week.
  • Eagle Ford is at 62, down 1 from last week.
  • Granite Wash is at 2, down 1 from last week.
  • Permian is at 414, down 3 from last week.

All other regions saw no net change in the active rig count.
