Weekly Gas Storage: 59 Bcf Build

Natural Gas Inventories as of August 16, 2019

The EIA has released its natural gas inventory report, showing a build of 59 Bcf as of August 16.

Working gas in storage was 2,797 Bcf as of Friday, August 16, 2019, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net increase of 59 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 369 Bcf higher than last year at this time and 103 Bcf below the five-year average of 2,900 Bcf.

At 2,797 Bcf, total working gas is within the five-year historical range.

This week, storage for both the South Central region and its salt count declined. All other regions experienced a net increase this week. Stocks in every region except the Midwest and South Central nonsalt are below the five-year average. The salt count in the South Central region is the farthest below the five-year average, at 19% below the average.
