The EIA released its weekly Natural Gas Storage Report today, outlining how national natural gas stocks have changed in the last week.

In total, the EIA reports natural gas stocks fell by 36 Bcf last week, decreasing to 1,107 Bcf from 1,143 Bcf. This is 20.5% below the 1,392 Bcf that was in storage at this point last year and is 33.2% below the five-year average of 1,658 Bcf. This week’s storage draw was roughly in line with expectations, as analysts predicted a draw of 40 Bcf.


All regions saw a draw this week, with the largest in the Midwest and East regions, which each saw stocks fall by 20 Bcf. Builds were seen in the Pacific and salt stocks in the South Central region, with gas storage increasing by 8 Bcf and 2 Bcf.
