Fifth Creek will present at EnerCom’s The Oil & Gas Conference® 21 on Wed. Aug. 17, 2016 at 5:30 pm EST.

Fifth Creek Energy is a private exploration and production company headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Fifth Creek was founded in October of 2014 by Michael Starzer and Pat Graham. The company is currently in the evaluation and acquisition phase, with its focus set on the Denver-Julesburg Basin, the Permian Basin, the Cotton Valley (in the Arkansas-Texas-Louisiana region), and several other conventional and unconventional oil and gas regions.

The acquisition target size for Fifth Creek is $500 million to $1.5 billion. The company seeks to acquire assets that have attractive and predictable investor returns. The management team claims its core competencies are in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracture stimulation technologies. Specifically, Fifth Creek is seeking to acquire acreage in mature basins that have infrastructure currently in place. It is also important to the company’s strategy to acquire assets with a high degree of predictability and repeatability, with low geologic risk.

Fifth Creek acquisition targets

Fifth Creek’s co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, Pat Graham, outlined the company’s strategy in a recent interview, saying, “The goal is to monetize the company in about five to seven years—whether through a cash sale or an IPO, or whatever form it takes.” Fifth Creek will attempt to accumulate a high-quality asset position that will attract buyers, returning capital back to shareholders in the five to seven year timeframe.

The Fifth Creek management team served as founders, executives, and directors of Bonanza Creek Energy and its three predecessor companies from 1999 to 2014. The Bonanza Creek companies had a total investor contribution of $562 million and they returned $1.9 billion. This represents an average rate of return to investors of 39.3% per annum since inception.
