The EIA released its weekly Natural Gas Storage Report today, outlining how national natural gas stocks have changed in the last week.

In total, the EIA reports natural gas stocks fell by 57 Bcf last week, dropping from 1,682 Bcf to 1,625 Bcf. This is 29.5% below the 2,305 Bcf that was in storage at this point last year, and is 15.6% below the five-year average of 1,925 Bcf. This week’s storage draw was in line with expectations, as analysts predicted a draw of 59 Bcf.

Weekly Gas Storage: Draws Continues to Slow

Salt stocks in the South Central region were the only regional storage that rose this week, increasing by 6 Bcf. Regional declines are slowing, as weather becomes milder, the largest decline in gas in storage was in the East region, which fell by 23 Bcf down to 359 Bcf.

Stocks in every region are below the five-year average. Gas in storage in the Mountain region is the farthest below the five-year average for the area, at 24.2% below the average.
